March Blog Post: Essential Oil Guide

Currently, in the United States, there are no regulations on essential oils. This means that any essential oil brand can put the words “100% pure” on their label, and actually include harmful and toxic ingredients. This just means it is extra important to research and find a brand you trust! At Luxxe Honor, all of our essential oils and blends are made in house and are extracted from the plant itself.

Essential oils have many uses, and we understand it can be intimidating in where to start. Here is a simple guide for what each oil can do for you!


Lavender:

Floral and slightly herbal, Lavender soothes the nervous system, and helps with Insomnia. This herbaceous oil is often used alone or in many of our relaxing blends.


Lavender Benefits: Inflammations of the skin, burns, sunburn, wounds, bites, scarring and calms the mind.


Bergamot:

Sweet and citrusy with a hint of floral, Bergamot is relaxing and balancing and is frequently used in massage therapy for its calming effect.


Bergamot Benefits: Depression, anxiety, bronchitis


Peppermint:

Strong, sharp and minty, Peppermint supports mental performance and alertness and addresses gastric issues.


Peppermint: Lethargy, mental fatigue, depression, headache and nausea


Scotch Pine:

Fresh and forest-like, Scotch Pine is a natural deodorizer and is great in cleaning products or apply to freshen and awaken.


Scotch Pine Benefits: Antiseptic, stress, cold and flu.


Tea Tree:

Sharp and medicinal, Tea Tree is anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and immune stimulant.


Tea Tree Benefits: Cuts, insect bites, boils, warts, acne, colds, and air purifier.


Eucalyptus:

Sharp, minty and slightly medicinal. Eucalyptus is refreshing and cooling to the mind and body and is useful during the changing seasons.

Eucalyptus benefits: Stimulating, clears the mind, air purifier

Geranium:

Floral and almost rose-like, Geranium has a balancing effect on the mind. Very soothing to the skin and popular in skincare products.

Geranium Benefits: Menopause, heavy menstruation and great for all skin types


Grapefruit:

Citrus, fresh and bright, Grapefruit elevates the mood and eases nervous exhaustion.

Grapefruit Benefits: Cellulite, cleansing of kidney & lymphatic system


Lemon:

Fresh, citrus and bright, Lemon is a brain stimulant and often used in cleaning products because of its astringent properties.

Lemon Benefits: Brain stimulant, cleansing effect on the body and home; cellulite, fever and lightens skin pigmentation.


Frankincense:

Woody, spicy and earthy, Frankincense comforts the nerves and is focusing. Nourishing to the skin, it is a popular ingredient in skincare products.

Frankincense Benefits: Anxiety, meditative and anti-inflammatory




Recipe of the Month: Peppermint Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Chocolate Covered Pretzels

A creative and simple way to use essential oils in the kitchen!

Ingredients

  • 1 bag of pretzels
  • 1 bag of Enjoy Life chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 drops of peppermint essential oil
  • Wax paper
  • Optional: crushed peppermint pieces

Directions

  1. Put the coconut oil in a microwave safe bowl
  2. Add the chocolate chips to the bowl
  3. Microwave in 15 second increments until chocolate is melted
  4. Add peppermint oil and mix
  5. Dip the pretzels fully in chocolate and lay them out on wax paper
  6. Option to add crushed peppermint pieces
  7. Place the pretzels in the fridge until chocolate is hardened
